A very successful, boutique hedge fund are looking to make a newly created ‘execution trader’ hire.
The current head trader is moving into a senior management role within the firm, hence why he is looking to hire a junior to train up and thus take on his trading role later this year. This provides the hire with a unique opportunity to be trained up, on an accelerated programme, by a leading industry investment professional. It is also an incredible opportunity to quickly become the sole trader for a sizeable, established hedge fund. As trading volumes at the firm are typically light, we prefer to hire a very smart, ‘tech savvy’ individual that can use his/her spare time helping to improve and develop existing infrastructure. The hire should also be comfortable helping out the operations, accounting and compliance teams when volumes are particularly low.
We are looking for candidates with first class STEM degrees. We are open to a 2:1 if the individual achieved his/her degree at a top tier Russell group university + got an A at Maths A-level. Candidates must have programming skills. Whilst we are flexible, the ideal candidate would most likely have around 3-6yrs relevant experience either as a trader or as a trader assistant – we are open to buy-side + investment banking candidates.
Given that we have some flexibility around profile, there is flexibility on budget. That said, a 60-85k base most likely covers off the level we are ideally looking to hire the role at. My client hopes to pay the hire a 50-100% bonus, with the variable dependant on individual performance.
