EMPLOYER: Baker Tilly Advisory Group, LP
JOB TITLE: Real Estate Valuation Manager, Development & Community Advisory
LOCATION: New York, NY (telecommuting allowed with at least 1 day per week in office expected.)
DUTIES: Manage engagement teams primarily related to the valuation and advisory of real estate and real estate entities, which may include financial modeling, business enterprise valuations (of real estate entities), appraisals of real property for a variety of purposes, real and personal valuations for financial reporting purposes (primarily ASC 805, ASC 820 AND ASC 360). Manage audit assist and reviews of third-party valuations of real estate assets and entities and provide review commentary to Baker Tilly's audit engagement team. Lead and assist with research and development of firm published through leadership. Individual will maintain and improve client and investor relationships in industry. Conduct in-depth reviews of third-party valuations of real estate assets and entities and provide independent guidance to Baker Tilly's real estate and construction assurance teams. Execute real estate valuation and advisory projects. Develop real estate valuation models utilizing discounted cash flows, direct capitalization, sales comparison approach, and cost approach valuation methodologies. Utilize portfolios of properties, including hotels, shopping malls, office buildings, retail stores, and multifamily houses, using Argus, Excel, CoStar, and other property valuation and asset management software. Conduct data and financial metrics analyses to develop an understanding of a particular market or property type. Develop technical narrative and create summary format reports for client deliverables to include methodologies, market overviews, assumptions, market research and comparable transaction data used to develop analyses. Build pro forma models, equity waterfall structures, and investment memorandum for acquisition, determining optimal real estate sale timing and annual budget computation and support or client in closing their real estate acquisitions. Develop appropriate financial models with specialized assumptions to help clients with leasing decisions, real estate tax appeal and tenant's bankruptcy. Assist partners or client leads in providing due diligence through closing activities, including underwriting, modeling, structuring, and negotiation of terms. Draw upon advanced knowledge in assets valuation and economics to assist with research and development of firm published through leadership. Work with information technology products, including word-processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, learning new technology as required. Use strong financial analysis skills to recognize financial issues through review of financial statements. Serve as the Coach for financial analysts to ensure deadlines are met and to develop and train staff. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and outside business professionals. Work independently and with the team members towards Company goals, displaying confidence in functional skills and applying those skills in a multi-task cross-functional team setting, exhibiting excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Note: this is not a traditional or personnel management role; incumbent serves as a lead technical resource.
REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in finance, economics, or related field plus 2 years real estate valuation experience, including developing and applying valuation modeling, conducting portfolio analysis using Argus and Excel, handling complex capital analysis, and exercising supervisory responsibilities. Alternatively, Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or related field plus 5 years of post-baccalaureate progressive real estate valuation experience, including developing and applying valuation modeling, conducting portfolio analysis using Argus and Excel, handling complex capital analysis, and exercising supervisory responsibilities. Certified general appraiser (real estate or real property) license (any state) also required.
RATE OF PAY: $179,088 to $208,170 per year.
