Balyasny has got another portfolio manager for its new Abu Dhabi office

BAM opened its Abu Dhabi office in March, which did not seem fortuitous timing what with the war. The business there is being built out by Yash Agarwal, a former ExodusPoint equities portfolio manager who is building out a team.
The Abu Dhabi office seems to be taking shape. Agarwal didn't respond to a request to comment for this article. Nor did BAM, but someone else is arriving. That person is Mathieu Recayte, an FX options trader.
Recayte, who is French and a mathematician, has joined BAM's UAE office. He too did not respond to a request to comment for this article. Recayte spent most of his career at Nomura for 12 years before a brief and ill-fated excursion to failed hedge fund Eisler Capital while closed late last year.
Abu Dhabi is a challenging place to be now. One trader told us he was stuck in Abu Dhabi early in the war and that it was "incredibly traumatic." Financial News reported earlier this month that Brevan Howard has been offering Abu Dhabi staff the opportunity to relocate elsewhere until the war is over. Recayte might want to wait in London for a while before leaving.
